The Optimal Role Model

As we make our journey across this Earth, we learn to imitate those that we admire. Idolization starts from the moment of human interaction. We first imitate our parents, then friends, moving to teachers, coaches and bosses. We choose to emulate the people whose qualities seem to benefit us. But many lose sight of who and what is important. We give in to what is easy, simulating what is popular, not necessarily right. Just read the latest news headlines and I’m sure you will catch my drift.

Today’s youth need a powerful role model more than ever. With all the turmoil and tragedy that happens within some homes, children need someone to grab to like a rock. Someone they know they can turn to whenever things get rough. But does that hero necessarily have to be a someone? Can’t it be a something? I believe that of the greatest role models is not of human flesh and bones, but in fact of metal. He is a truck and one of the ultimate leaders this world will ever see.

The Master of Ice

In keeping with Snowpocalypse 2015, it felt appropriate to show off Kopaka, the Toa of Ice.

Kopaka is easily one of the best Toa. He has a great array of weapons, especially that impressive Frost Shield, and great bulk too. His massive golden shoulder pads and dual protected shins make him look protected from the harsh environment, but also ready to take on a horde of Skull Spiders. I also adore the use of transparent blue for some limbs. It almost alludes that he is made of icicles and adds to his cold personality.

To all those being affected by the storm, please stay safe tonight and keep warm!

My Workplace

Just thought I would give a quick look at my desk here in my room.

It’s busy, I’ll give you that, yet somehow cohesive. Each section is separated based on their figure line, but within each section there is a logical order. Quick example, the amiibo are organized by character popularity and group by game.

This may all seem distracting, especially at a work place, but they definitely aid in creativity. Nothing is more therapeutic and zen than taking apart and putting back together a Lego set, or transforming Optimus Prime back and forth. And the Mario fist pump poster doesn’t hurt either. Plus all of these figures give me a stepping stone in which to jumpstart my imagination and inspiration.

I hope you all have something you can find inspiring too!

P.S. Those animals framed are my pets back home. My dog, Mia Bella, and my cats, Romeo and Juliette. I love and miss them all so much and they help to when needing a burst of creativity!
