As we make our journey across this Earth, we learn to imitate those that we admire. Idolization starts from the moment of human interaction. We first imitate our parents, then friends, moving to teachers, coaches and bosses. We choose to emulate the people whose qualities seem to benefit us. But many lose sight of who and what is important. We give in to what is easy, simulating what is popular, not necessarily right. Just read the latest news headlines and I’m sure you will catch my drift.
Today’s youth need a powerful role model more than ever. With all the turmoil and tragedy that happens within some homes, children need someone to grab to like a rock. Someone they know they can turn to whenever things get rough. But does that hero necessarily have to be a someone? Can’t it be a something? I believe that of the greatest role models is not of human flesh and bones, but in fact of metal. He is a truck and one of the ultimate leaders this world will ever see.
As per the usual of Oneonta, the weather tends to be erratic and even extreme in some cases. Last night happened to be one of those nights where the weather went nuts and dumped everyone’s favorite white powder everywhere.
UPDATE (2/2/15): Nintendo has updated their rewards for February, the final month for new rewards, and HOLY COW! Nintendo has uploaded over 100 downloadable titles from their current console and Virtual Console catalogue. Nintendo has also added some new physical rewards as well. Definitely a fitting ending to this amazing club. Go and redeem those coins!
Nintendo has long prided itself with its treasure trove of beloved properties and creating merchandise to commemorate them. Ever since the NES era, Nintendo has been making blankets, statues, keychains and even cereal to show off its characters. Heck, the company got its start as a hanafuda card maker and moved on to making toys before video games. And since 2008, Nintendo has been channeling this love into their reward service, Club Nintendo. It was a one-stop shop for dedicated fans to register products, answer surveys and in return, get access to some of the best gifts Nintendo had to offer. There was nothing more exciting than getting something new from the shop. But alas, it is no more. Nintendo has decided to shut down the service, ending a long standing run of enjoyment and service to dedicated fans. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel as it seems that we are about to start another long and prosperous journey with this remarkable company.
All throughout your educational career, you are given formulas for solving almost any problem. None of those formulas have had quite as large an impact as these two have. Not even the quadratic formula.
These are arguably the most influential formulas on my entire life.
They are the formulas for determining whether or not you capture a wild Pokémon.
I’ve spent LITERAL MONTHS playing these games and never once stopped to think how the game came to the conclusion that I have successfully captured a Pokémon. How did GameFreak even come to settle with this model?
Just shows how much is never seen or appreciated.
To be honest, I still think it correlates to how quickly I smash the “A” Button.

Earlier this morning 20th Century Fox uploaded the first teaser trailer for their upcoming reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise.
Question: How many of you knew that Fox as even making this movie?
Honestly, what is startling about this is not the content itself, but rather the lack thereof. Normally, movie trailers don’t get shown until a few months before release and this fits that bill. What is interesting about this movie in particular is that practically NOTHING HAS BEEN SHOWN BEFORE THIS! There have barely been any picture or set leaks and this movie comes out in August!
Maybe I am foolish for trusting a trailer so soon, but I am impressed. The whole package feels well made, giving the audience bits and pieces of what is to come without totally spoiling every character and plot point.
In keeping with Snowpocalypse 2015, it felt appropriate to show off Kopaka, the Toa of Ice.
Kopaka is easily one of the best Toa. He has a great array of weapons, especially that impressive Frost Shield, and great bulk too. His massive golden shoulder pads and dual protected shins make him look protected from the harsh environment, but also ready to take on a horde of Skull Spiders. I also adore the use of transparent blue for some limbs. It almost alludes that he is made of icicles and adds to his cold personality.
To all those being affected by the storm, please stay safe tonight and keep warm!
Just thought I would give a quick look at my desk here in my room.
It’s busy, I’ll give you that, yet somehow cohesive. Each section is separated based on their figure line, but within each section there is a logical order. Quick example, the amiibo are organized by character popularity and group by game.
This may all seem distracting, especially at a work place, but they definitely aid in creativity. Nothing is more therapeutic and zen than taking apart and putting back together a Lego set, or transforming Optimus Prime back and forth. And the Mario fist pump poster doesn’t hurt either. Plus all of these figures give me a stepping stone in which to jumpstart my imagination and inspiration.
I hope you all have something you can find inspiring too!
P.S. Those animals framed are my pets back home. My dog, Mia Bella, and my cats, Romeo and Juliette. I love and miss them all so much and they help to when needing a burst of creativity!
